Here’s the logic. The customers buying from your affiliate through an on line transaction.
The transaction will go through a secure online banking software.
When the bank software system sends you a percentage of the purchase, where does it go? It goes through an on line banking transaction.
Therefore, you have to have the account they specify to receive a payment. Some use Pay Pal and some use Click Bank.
You can either request that pay pal sends you a check for the total amount you have been paid or request to transfer that payment to your on line banking. All this can be done without spending gas money, standing in long lines at the bank or having to find your local ATM machine.

Paypal is simply a fast and easy way for an affiliate program to pay you your earnings you have made quickly without having to wait two weeks to get a check in the mail.
Donations are a good idea if you have a website that is offering a free service that people frequently use. Some people may actually provide you a small donation. Other than that, your better off not putting a donation link on your website.
