Web Logging, or as it is more commonly referred to as Blogging, is one such creation which folks all around the world enjoy participating in.

Most people would consider a blog nothing more than a mere web text based journal that can be decorated with fancy photos, however this is just not the case. Yes, blogs are more often than not written journals, however there are two other forms of blogs are that now flourishing; Audioblogs and Vlogs, or video blogs. Audioblogs are an interesting spin on regular ones as it is an ideal way to put a personal touch to one’s site without having to spend too much time on other aspects of the blog.

Blogs are typically used for those with a passion to write all about the things they care about, or to simply record the passing of daily life to keep their friends up to date. A few people use the internet as a personal diary that is not meant to be read by others, replacing the traditional paper book with a password protected website. Particularly well-rounded bloggers could be eligible for certain awards if their handiwork comes to the attention of the online community.

Not only are blogs the houses for personal posts and entries, they are also the locations for groups of people to post in unison about a particular topic or theme. Many online and local businesses post information about their various products with customer reviews to better entice new clients. Many blogs are dedicated solely to the idea that groups of users can come together and create an entire story by making small individual posts that are weaved together.

For those who are not as familiar with writing online, there are a few basic keys to keep in mind when creating their first blog; desired content, target audience, and personal flare. When making a blog keep it is a good idea to focus on what one wants on it and who they want to be able to view it, blogs can be made private if the site they are hosted on offers this function. Take pride in a personal blog by adding unique and meaningful design choices, these will should set one’s blog apart from the rest.

If fame and admiration is what is sought through blogging, than there are a few things that can be done to increase the amount of daily traffic. Search engine sites have become the most popular method of locating other sites on the web for millions of online surfers, making small improvements to one’s blog can increase the chases of appearing on these search sites. Making one’s very own logos and pictures that appear on the blog give it a very unique and recognizable feel.

With the rise in popularity of blogs it was only a matter of time before people started rating and judging said blogs to determine which one is the best in its field. The Bloggies and the Best of the Blogs, or BOBs, are the most prestigious of the awards that a blog can receive, however there are several smaller awards floating out in the web. Those who judge these sites are both professional critics and common readers alike depending on what the award being given is.

Modern culture is based around the sharing of information and ideas with people around the world. Blogging can be a great way to share experiences, wisdom, and gather together articles and media about a favorite subject to display to others. These digital collages are a great way to show talent in writing, filming, designing, and the ability to hold public interest.
